Lawyer / Specialised in Criminal Law
Dr. Erkan Aksöz has been working exclusively as a defence lawyer since his admis-sion as an attorney-at-law. Specialised in criminal law, he defends and advises his clients on all stages of penal proceedings.
Alongside the defence of individuals, his primary focus rests on providing legal ad-vice in matters of criminal law and the legal representation of companies, even in an international context. At the same time, he has vast experience in the handling of complex, highly extensive proceedings.
Dr. Aksöz studied law with an emphasis on Criminal Defence, Criminal Proceed-ings and Criminology at Ruhr University Bochum in Germany. He took his first State examination on mandatory subjects before the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court.
Having acquired first practical experience with the German Customs Investigation Bureau in Cologne as well as the European Parliament in Brussels, Dr. Aksöz achieved his doctoral degree under Prof. Dr. Klaus Bernsmann at Ruhr University Bochum (the subject of his thesis was: Strafjustiz im Spannungsfeld zwischen In-formationsinteresse und Persönlichkeitsschutz - ‘Conflicting priorities between the interest in information and the protection of privacy in the criminal justice sys-tem’).
During his legal clerkship, Dr. Aksöz worked, amongst other things, at the Depart-ment of Organised Crime of the Duisburg public prosecutor’s office, the Ministry of the Environment, Agriculture, Nature Conservation and Consumer Protection of the Land of North Rhine-Westphalia (Department of Environmental Crimes and Consumer Protection Crimes), at the boutique lawyer’s office, Thomas Deckers Wehnert Elsner and also at a large criminal division of the Düsseldorf Regional Court.
Dr. Aksöz is a member of the association of defence lawyers of North Rhine-Westphalia (Strafverteidigervereinigung NRW e.V.). He speaks German, English, and Turkish.
